Alumni Spotlight: Hannah Gula!

Celebrating Confederation College Alumna, Hannah Gula!

Hannah is a 2018 grad in our Recreation Therapy program. From a decade of dedication as a competitive gymnast to becoming a top weightlifter, Hannah Gula’s journey is nothing short of inspiring. Originally from Red Lake, Hannah moved to Thunder Bay after her gymnastics career, where she discovered a passion for weightlifting through her local CrossFit community. Fast forward to her first meet, where she immediately qualified for provincials, sparking a new path in her athletic career.

Recently, Hannah competed in the 2024 Commonwealth Weightlifting Championship in Fiji, finishing an impressive 5th place in the 59kg division and helping Canada’s women’s team secure the Top Team Award among competitors from 15 different countries. She also competed in the 2023 World Cup in Qatar!

Reflecting on this milestone, Hannah shared: “I’m incredibly grateful for the chance to compete and express my athleticism. This journey has pushed me out of my comfort zone, and I’ve met amazing people and traveled to places I never imagined. None of this would have been possible if I hadn’t taken that first leap!”

Next up? The provincial championships in Toronto this November as she works toward her dream of competing in the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles!

Join us in celebrating Hannah’s hard work and dedication, and cheer her on as she continues to reach for the stars!
